Gibson Electric Guitar, Les Paul Melody Maker

The Gibson logo, is one of the most recognizable logos in the music world. It is silk-screened onto the face of the mahogany headstock, and finished with a thin coat of lacquer. Orville Gibson, incorporated Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co, Ltd, in 1902, to market his then main instrument, the mandolin. In the spring of 1935, Gibson Co, began exploring the concept of an electric guitar. The first model “Electric Spanish” was shipped from the Kalamazoo, Michigan, Gibson factory, on May 20, 1936. The legendary Melody Makers of the late 1950s and early 1960s, were the best-selling models of Gibson’s famed “Golden Era”.
